![]() ![]() Since 1990 the Polish section of RFE has been operating officially in Warsaw. RFE was systematically, but not completely effectively, being jammed by the communists. The activity of the broadcasting station contributed significantly to the exposure of the abuses of the communist system (famous auditions by Józef Światła in 1955) and the endorsement of democracy. Apart from current information, the Polish service provided news concerning political (‘Facts, events, opinions’), economical, agricultural, cultural (discussion of the migrant literature), music and religious issues. Radia Wolna Europa is an internet radio station from Warsaw, Poland, providing archival audio of Radio Free Europe broadcasts from behind the Iron Curtain years. ![]() It was managed since 1976 by Jan Nowak-Jeziorański, and later by Zygmunt Michałowski, Zdzisław Najder, Marek Łatyński and Piotr Mroczyk. The Polish service of Radio Free Europe started its activity in May 1952. Soon six national broadcasters were created. The first audition was aired in June 1950.
